May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month: help your clients stay protected
Skin cancer is one of the most common—and most preventable—types of cancer. As we head into warmer months, it’s a good time to remind your clients about simple habits that can help protect their skin and support long-term health.
Why it matters
Skin cancer affects millions of people each year, but early detection and prevention can make a significant difference. Many cases are linked to ultraviolet (UV) exposure from the sun or indoor tanning, making everyday choices an important part of risk reduction.
Key prevention tips to share with clients
- Limit sun exposure during peak hours
- Use sunscreen regularly
- Wear protective clothing
- Avoid tanning beds
- Check skin regularly
How you can support the conversation
A quick reminder during routine conversations—especially during Skin Cancer Awareness Month and throughout summer—can keep prevention top of mind.
