Breast cancer screenings

Early Detection Matters

Breast cancer is most treatable when detected early. For many women, prevention begins with a mammogram. Mammograms can identify tissue changes before they are noticeable during a physical exam. Because most breast cancer cases occur in women without a family history, healthcare providers recommend that women ages 40 to 74 have a mammogram every one to two years—even if there is no family history.
